Cold-Rolling Characteristics:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Cold-rolled sheets and coils are produced using hot-rolled coils as raw material, processed via rolling at room temperature (below the recrystallization temperature). They are available in both sheet and coil forms and are produced by numerous domestic steel mills, such as Baosteel, WISCO, and Ansteel. Products delivered as individual sheets are known as steel plates (or flat sheets\/box sheets), while those delivered in long, continuous rolls are known as steel strips (or coils).<\/p>

Definition of Cold Rolling:<\/span><\/p>

Technically, it is rolling performed below the recrystallization temperature, though it is generally understood as rolling materials at ambient temperature. Aluminum cold rolling is categorized into sheet rolling and foil rolling; products with a thickness of 0.15 mm or greater are classified as sheets, while those under 0.15 mm are classified as foils. European and American manufacturers typically utilize 3 to 6-stand tandem rolling mills for cold-rolling operations.<\/p>

Production Process: Since no heating is involved during production, defects common to hot rolling\u2014such as pitting and iron oxide scale\u2014are avoided, resulting in superior surface quality and a high-quality finish. Additionally, cold-rolled products offer high dimensional accuracy, with properties and microstructures capable of meeting specific application requirements, such as electromagnetic performance and deep-drawing capabilities.<\/p>

“Cold-rolled thin steel sheet” is the formal term for cold-rolled sheets made from ordinary carbon structural steel; they are commonly referred to as “cold-rolled sheets” or simply “cold sheets.” These sheets are produced by taking hot-rolled strips of ordinary carbon structural steel and subjecting them to further cold rolling to achieve a thickness of less than 4 mm. Because the rolling process takes place at room temperature, no iron oxide scale is formed, resulting in superior surface quality and high dimensional accuracy. Furthermore, following annealing treatment, their mechanical and processing properties surpass those of hot-rolled thin sheets. Consequently, they have gradually replaced hot-rolled thin sheets in many sectors, particularly in the home appliance manufacturing industry.<\/p>

1. Hot-rolled pickled (HRP) steel:<\/p>

Product characteristics: Due to the absence of annealing, the material has high hardness (HRB > 90) and extremely poor machinability; it is suitable only for simple, directional bending operations of less than 90 degrees (perpendicular to the coiling direction).<\/p>

Applications:<\/p>

(1) Processing into standard cold-rolled steel after annealing;<\/p>

(2) Galvanizing on lines equipped with pre-annealing units;<\/p>

(3) Panels requiring little to no further processing.<\/p>

Common steel grades include CDCM-SPCC (SPCD, SPCE, ST12, ST13, ST14, BLC, BLD, BUSD, BUFD, BSUFD, etc.), though their properties are essentially the same.<\/p>

3. Standard cold-rolled steel;<\/p>

4. Galvanized steel;<\/p>

5. Al-Zn coated steel (Galvalume): Produced using a continuous hot-dip coating process to apply a layer of 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon to the steel surface.<\/p>

(1) Excellent durability; longer service life compared to galvanized steel;<\/p>

(2) Good heat resistance; less prone to discoloration at high temperatures compared to galvanized steel;<\/p>

(3) Good heat reflectivity;<\/p>

(4) Attractive silvery-white surface finish;<\/p>

(5) Processing and painting characteristics similar to galvanized steel;<\/p>

(6) Good weldability.<\/p>

Applications: Industries requiring high-performance alternatives to standard galvanized sheet. 6. Electrolytic tinplate: Processed using the Frostan-type insoluble anode tin-plating method.<\/p>
