1.4016 stainless steel is a common ferritic stainless steel material, also known as 430 stainless steel, with good corrosion resistance and processing performance.
With its ferritic structure, 1.4016 stainless steel offers strong magnetic properties and excellent forming and polishing properties for indoor/outdoor moderately corrosive environments. It is highly resistant to heat and oxidation and can withstand intermittent temperatures of approximately 800°C. Compared with non-magnetic 304 stainless steel, 430 steel is less expensive, making it the preferred choice for cost-effective sourcing.

The defining feature of 1.4016 stainless is its magnetism, due to its ferritic structure, which means the steel is fully magnetic, suitable for wherever magnetic attachment or sensing is needed (e.g. refrigerator doors, appliance badges).
With 16–18% chromium, 1.4016 steel resists rust in mild environments (fresh water, steam, weak acids/alkalis, dilute nitric, etc.), especially after being highly polished. Its high Cr and low C formula also ensures excellent ductility and formability (for stamping, bending, deep drawing, etc.)
1.4016 stainless steel maintains its good oxidation resistance at high temperatures, with oxidation resistance up to approximately 870°C for intermittent use and 815°C for continuous use. This makes it suitable for applications requiring heat resistance such as ovens, kiln components and automotive exhaust systems.
1.4016 material without precious metal nickel, is much cheaper than 300 series grades(e.g. 304). Where corrosion demands are moderate, choosing 1.4016 stainless steel significantly cuts material cost, making it a smart budget choice for procurement.
Available in 2B, BA, #4 brushed, hairline, embossed and other surface finishes. The plate surface can be deep-drawn, laser cut, polished, and PVC protective film can be applied to meet different decorative and cleaning requirements.
1.4016 steel plate is widely used for both decorative and functional parts.
1.4016 is also used in automotive trim strips, radiator covers, industrial furnace linings, and chemical instrument liners, where its resistance to oxidation and nitric acid corrosion is valuable.
