The higher chromium and molybdenum content of 2507 provides strong corrosion resistance against organic acids such as formic acid and acetic acid. It also exhibits strong resistance to inorganic acids, particularly those containing oxidizing agents.
Compared to 904L, 2507 – Specialty Alloys offers superior corrosion resistance in dilute solutions containing chloride ions.
316L is unsuitable for marine environments, as it is susceptible to both localized and general corrosion. In contrast, Stainless Steel Specialty Alloys Grade Super Duplex 2507 is suitable for use in marine environments, demonstrating strong resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
